Val de Telha
The original pool leaked and had very slippy tiles. It also had the strangest plumbing so the decision was taken to replace it.
First the area around the pool was excavated.
The old pool was demolished and the rubble used to provide a strong base for the new pool.
Next the steelwork was fitted, much stronger than normal due to the sandy subsoil.
The base was then poured and leveled.
Next came the block work shuttering for the pool walls.
And the flanking walls started going up.
Then came the timber in shuttering for the pool walls.
The pool walls were then poured.
This was then rendered flat after some of the accessories had been fitted.
Next came the hardcore base for the patio. This was heavily compacted with a diesel whacker.
Then a screed was put down for the paving and the drainage was started.
Next the "Bradstone" paving went down,
The precision shower cubicle was built.
And the steps started....
Then the pool was tiled with the Italian glass mosaic tiles which come on a paper backing.....
....and the one-off seahorse mosaic by Paula Watt was installed..
The cooking area was then underway...
...and the pagoda started to take shape...
The paving looking stunning after grouting.. Click here to see the finished project or |
